Taking down the rainbow window

As you remember on St. Patrick's Day, we created a rainbow window with cellophane and dish soap.

The rainbow window stayed up clear past "OUR" northwest spring break and we got a lot of people commenting on it, loving it, admiring it, and even stopping in front of our home to snap photos of it.  The window was a ton of fun, but all good things must come to an end come down.  Unfortunately.  :-(

We all pitched in to peel the colors off the window and they piled on the floor in a colorful pile.  It was almost like a small pile of multicolored leaves when we were done peeling.

That my son had to walk through, of course.

And play in, of course.

Ha!

What a colorful mess. But it was fun and we were all a little sad when it was gone.

FYI:  If you do this project and use red, be sure and remove the cellophane with warm soapy water, but if you just peel it off like we did, you can still remove the color left from the cellophane with warm, soapy water as well.

Eco-Tip:  When planting your spring garden look to planting flowers, vegetables, and fruits that will attract friendly bugs that will take care of the pesky ones that eat on your crops instead of using chemicals in your garden.  For this and other tips on going green visit, The Earth and Me Go Green

Spark of Loves this Week: Sign, Turkey, Woodpecker, Podracer, Jewelry, Marshmallows, Bread, Note, Feet, and Item

This Sign.

Because I think southern hospitality can be found in the north too.  It all depends on the person, not the place.

This Turkey.

Because Skylar drew it on my phone and I just found it this week.  Pardoned turkeys on Thanksgiving are probably very thankful.

This Woodpecker.

Because he pecked and pecked at the tree in front of my house until I was out of bed.  Nature's Alarm Clock it would seem.

This Podracer.

Because Skylar wants it so bad, but since we are moving I won't buy it.  My motto right now is, nothing new gets brought into the house that's larger than a notebook.  It will be his reward once we move.  Shhhhh.  :-)

This Jewelry.

I've started making jewelry again.  I am under the business name of The Peppermint Bee now.  BeeSpa sold for $1,000 last year, so I have began the hobby once more.  Find me HERE and HERE after I get things going again.

These Marshmallows.

Because they are AMAZING on a S'more!

This Bread.

Because I baked it and I can't stop eating it!

This Note.

Because my son is a sweetheart and he really goes out of his way to think of other people.  This note was to his main third grade teacher and he also wrote a note to another teacher that he has been having conflict with this year.  Her teaching style doesn't suit my son, but he wanted to show her that she is still appreciated.

These Feet.

Because he wore them out and about when I was running errands and I couldn't help by laugh.

This Item.

Because it's a reusable menstrual pad and it not as bad as you might think.  It's a great tool in living a greener lifestyle.  I got this one at my local farmers' co-op, but you can get one HERE.

Eco-Tip:  Earth Day is coming up on April 22, instead of just observing this day on one day, why not observe Earth Day all year long.  Recycle everyday, reuse everyday, re purpose everyday, and appreciate what mother earth has provided for us.  For this and other tips on going green visit, The Earth and Me Go Green.

That's so Pinteresting: What's popular on Pinterest this week (2)

Pinterest is amazing, you can find pretty much anything you are seeking.  From kids' party ideas, to DIY crafts and everything in between.  I love Pinterest and I love how organized it keeps everything that I am interested in.  I just make a board of the topic and then start pinning everything I can find.  Most importantly, Pinterest is a great way to promote your products, website, blog, or even brand. Below is a snippet of some of my Pin Boards and what I am looking at this past week.

With the ease of use from Pinterest to be able to organize your bookmarks rather than being on your computer, every week there is a slew of popularity from certain pins.  Here are the ones I found to be popular this week.

Giant Ice Cube Game for Kids

Kid games on Pinterest are amazing.  There are so many blogs that are pinned on Pinterest with so many ideas on how to keep your kids entertained.  This frozen block with small toys is the one that's been pinned that most and it's a super simple, and easy game to do.

Polka Dots

Polka Dots seem to be a popular items at the moment.  I have seen so many different things pinned with polka dots on them and due to those pins, I find myself drawn more to polka dots now too.  All of the images below come from Etsy shops.  To find the shop exactly look to the "source" link below the image.

Chalk Board Paint Crafts

Chalk board paint is something that's been around for quite some time, but now due to Pinterest, everyone has brought about their own creative takes on how to use it.  Here are a few pins that have gained some grand attention all over the world wide web.

Eco-Tip:  When something breaks or quits working don't just throw it out and replace it with new, consider repairing it, or paying to get it serviced.  The less we bring into our home the less that goes out to the landfills.  For this and other tips on going green visit, The Earth and Me Go Green.
